We're planning more of our ‘Let's Make A Scene’ series of posts, to help with those finishing touches to your layout or diorama. As well as listing the parts used, we'll be writing individual blogs on how we make each one.
Here's a sneak preview of what we've got planned.
Phone boxes
Part of the traditional fabric of everyday life in the UK, the common red phone box can be seen everywhere from remote rural lanes to inner city high streets.

Here we can see a typically urban box, stood in the middle of a wide pavement. Behind is a balustrade, probably protecting a lower-level passage alongside the basement of the building.
Kits needed:
- Gaugemaster GM461 Phone Box or
- PECO 5006 Phone Box
- LX307-OO Balustrade
- KX023-OO Light Grey Slabbed Pavement
This is a more rural box, and although not quite the centre of the village, there is also a post box and a bus stop.

Recycling bins
These bins are appearing everywhere, as we strive to reuse the plastic, glass, cardboard & paper that normally gets thrown away.

These bins are parked at the edge of a grass plot, surrounded by leaves from the autumn trees behind.
Kits needed
- Gaugemaster GM495 Wheelie Bins
- BR010-OO Forest Floor Scatter
- Eden Green Static Grass
- LX217-OO Pavement
Industrial Waste - 1
Tucked away behind the unit opposite SMS HQ, I found this little collection of waste items, just begging to be modelled. A full skip, and few empty IBC tanks and a couple of pallets of empty plastic drums sit squashed against an overgrown hedgerow.

Industrial Waste - 2
Turning around, I then spotted this half-empty bulk bag and an old wooden stillage, both on pallets
