New Embankment Former For Deeper Railway Cuttings

We've expanded our range of popular embankment formers this week adding a new high-level former which takes you from the 50mm height of the other formers in the range up to 100mm in height which is perfect for bridges & tunnels. As with all our other formers, they're super-sturdy, being made from 4mm MDF and pretty much slot together. So you can have a complete, ready to landscape embankment in just a few minutes! In fact, I'd challenge to take longer than 30 mins to build a complete set of four of these. You'd have time to build all four and run to the shops for a bar of chocolate in that time! They're that quick to work with… They're also not scale specific either… Anyway… here's all the info:

OO/HO Scale Figure Sets

We've had lots of new figure sets arriving in stock this week for detailing your OO/HO scale model railway layouts as well as 1:87 & 1:76 scale diecast dioramas.

  • Noch 15283 Electric Locomotive Drivers - Pack of 6 OO/HO Scale
These excellent quality pre-painted figures are great for detailing your electric locomotives. Made with no legs, which looks a bit weird, but helps with fitting them into locomotive cabs with shallow cab mouldings.
  • Preiser 10497 Scaffolders Figures (Pack of 6)
If you've got a construction site on your layout or have a building that looks like it needs a little TLC, why not use our LX419-OO Scaffolding kit and a pack of the Preiser 10497 Scaffolder figures to create an interesting little cameo scene. The figures are supplied pre-painted and are ready to use straight from the packet.

Scenery & Landscaping

  • Gaugemaster GM1700 / GM195 Seafoam Tree Making Set For OO/HO/N
At last, these are back in stock… for a few minutes at least! Rarer than Oasis tickets, but much more use to be honest. Gaugemaster's premium quality Seafoam Tree armatures give you the most natural tree shapes. They're not the cheapest I'll admit, but they're a natural product and you get absolutely loads in a box! Enough for a small forest anyway. If you're modelling an autumn/winter scene you can pretty much use them straight from the box for smaller trees at least. For spring & summer, add a little foliage (fine or coarse), or sprinkle with Gaugemaster leaves. We've also got a handy Tree Making Bundle available here.

Layout Lighting & Electronics

Lighting can make a huge difference to a model railway or diorama. There's something rather special about seeing a layout all lit up in a darkened room, and the new fairy light strips from Noch are absolutely brilliant! We used to make some ourselves but they were always a bit tricky to do. So now we're stocking these beautifully German engineered ones!

Great new easy to follow Saturday email. All change here at Exeter Road as the layout was deassembled due to a possible house move but as this is not going to happen now, Exeter Road 2 is already underway! Track already down and the SMS catalogue is on the work bench. Head is buzzing with ideas and inspiration from fellow railway people and your catalogue. Not planning on much sleep for a few months! Exeter Road 1 is still on youtube. Thank you for all you do for us, looking forward to building more of your amazing kits and making our railway 'Realisticly better'

Regards, Adrian

Love the newer layout of newsletter, always a great read and full of great things to add to my railway, keep up the fantastic work guys

Much improved newsletter which flows easily.

I am delaying tackling a new mimic panel. I can't get my head round drawing 3rd and 2nd radius curves to form inner and outer ovals. Spur off to another station plus 5 sidings within the inner loop. Then mount between 2 sheets of perspex and drill 3mm holes in the right places for stud and probe and indicator lights. Phew!

Reading your ‘going's-on’ I wonder how you fit everything in. Thanks for the weekend Email. Here, progress on Westleigh Junction is at the track testing and clearances stage ( yes - the Syphon G is not making it round the platform curve just yet). Really enjoy constructing my SMS acquisitions . The farmyard will nicely on the corner overlooking the layout. Thanks for all your hard work providing such great models.

Looked at the news letter and found it very good .

I look for 009 scale and I find its a well kept secret as no one wants to help , I'm still thinking of a layout and find that questions asked are never answered, all of the time .

Look forward for the next letter thank you.
