I decided to paint it before assembly and I think this cause me some issues. With all the cross members there are lots of small places to paint. This is where the issues came as the fitting of pieces together is a tight fit. With paint in some of the slots and on the ends of the inserts these became even tighter with some being impossible. Scraping the paint off was fiddly but did ease most. Connecting the deck to the sides had 12 slots. Applying too much pressure here collapsed the small crossmembers on the deck at the side instead of fitting it into the slot. Dry runs are essential.

Once assembled in N gauge any damage is difficult to see so probably won't even be noticed.

I now have this assembled and painted. Just need to do some weathering/rusting.

The 48 small pieces with rivets at the ends of the cross members really enhance the bridge and it looks great.

I slipped up a bit attaching the side pieces putting them on top and underneath the sides. Perhaps a lightly bigger picture on the instructions would help.
