A laser cut kit to build a pair of Portable Locomotive Access Platforms. The kit builds one left and one right-hand platform, with lots of laser engraved detail for a very realistic finish, including tread-plate platform, steps & added wheel detail. Perfect for any traction maintenance depot but can also be used in bus & lorry depots, workshops, factories and warehouses too.

Made from laserboard and very straightforward to build. Tweezers and a fine tipped glue applicator are essential when building this kit. Can be easily painted with acrylic paints.

Laser Cut vs 3D Printed

I’d tried a 3D printed version of these maintenance platforms from another supplier for my TMD and while they were prototypically accurate they were very flimsy, arrived warped, broke easily and I couldn’t repair them so I’ve given these laser cut ones a try and I’m very happy with them. Robust enough for my old fat fingers but still prototypical in scale. Add to that the satisfaction that comes from actually assembling them! Scale Model Scenery put a lot of thought into these mini kits and they were a joy to put together.

Rather fiddly so really need to take time studying the instructions ! But once completed an a lovely look to loco sheds carriage sheds or any workshop !

Excellent maintenance platforms!

These kits are very light & delicate, but beautifully laser-cut so that the results (with the careful use of a thin-bladed knife) are excellent - especially with people on of course. Mine aren't painted yet, but probably will be. And I may well buy some more since they help to suggest genuine activity & maintenance in the area.

Great item easy to put together even with big fingers,uhu glue and some tweezers and they came together quite quickly and finished of in orange paint
