Designed to be accessed and viewed from all sides, this simple plan uses a more industrial / urban setting to create operational interest. Although partly inspired by the "Thomas®" stories, and would suit the use of the various locos with faces, the layout can also be used for the more serious modeller who wants a variety of scenic elements and interesting sightlines.

The plan is essentially a simple circle with shunting loops and several sidings. Each half of the layout can be used for different commerical activities, allowing an element of sending and receiving goods and materials. Although there is no backscene, the various heights of the buildings used will create differing backdrops to each area.

Buildings Suggestions

This layout lends itself to the addition of a whole host of industrial, commerical & domestic buildings, plus roadways, pavements, bus stops, billboards, walls, fences...
What you add depends entirely on the era and region you wish to portray. We can see this as being anything from a southwestern branchline, to a Midlands brewery or pottery town, even to a harbourside from anywhere along the east coast.
