An essential detail for every 1960s & 70's based traction maintenance depot. This laser cut kit builds a single locomotive maintenance platform based on the concrete platforms at the Tinsley depot. The kit features realistic treadplate detailing to the stair treads, plus weathered paper wrap for the platform top in a concrete finish complete with oil stains and wear marks.

Complete with piping & conduit for the underside of the platform, these will make the perfect addition to your depots. Can also be used for bus & lorry depots.

Two sets of support legs are included. Shorter ones shown are for use in depots with baseboard level floors. Longer support legs are included for depots with larger inspection pits / elevated track. Total platform length including steps is 335mm. Can be joined end to end to create a longer platform if needed.

Key Features:

  • Incredibly fine laser engraved detail.
  • Dimension: L: 335mm x W: 22mm x H: 37mm including hand rails
  • Can be easily painted & weathered using acrylic paints.

Supplied unpainted.

As Seen In...

This detailed maintenance platform kit excels at bringing depot scenes to life with realistic touches. Customers said it offers "excellent detail" and "better than others on the market." Assembly is generally easy, though stairs and cables can be fiddly for adult-sized fingers. The platform is adaptable for custom designs.

Locomotive Maintenance Platform Verified Purchase

Brilliant product, but the assembly of the stairs was far too difficult for an adult with adult size fingers, despite using tweezers !

Great for detailing a depot Verified Purchase

The detail is better than others on the market. Easy to build if a bit fiddly. Nice addition to any depot scene

Carriage platforms Verified Purchase

I bought 3 of these and made them fit together to make a 3 carriage service platform. The details were excellent. The conduits and cables underneath were fiddly but added realistic detail. Just make sure you don’t put too much paint over the holes or threading the rods through becomes a difficult job. As usual all the SMC products are detailed far bette than some other manufacturers and you can adapt them yourself to make a bespoke design.
