A delightful detached cottage perfect for detailing a quiet village scene or the outskirts of a town. Percival Cottage will look at home on any 1:76 diecast diorama or OO gauge model railway.
Lots of scope for kit-bashing, this detailed kit includes a choice of external texture paper wraps, glazed windows, an engraved door, guttering and downpipes. Pre-weathered terracotta roof tiles give the roof a prototypical finish with no additional painting or weathering needed.
Supplied with a choice of white rendered/stone finish, or white rendered/red brick finish, in both weathered or pristine options.
The porch roof and brackets provide your residents with shelter on those wet and windy days. Theres also an option to add cosy internal lighting to the upper, lower and rear sections.
Doors, window frames, guttering, downpipes and chimney tops require painting before the kit is assembled, which can be done with solvent or acrylic-based paints. We actually used a black Sharpie to colour the downpipes on our prototype, and it works a treat.

Brilliant little kit which was really enjoyable to make up and customise into a village pub! It also sits well alongside the previously made Dylington Cottages on my non-permanent layout.

Received this the other week and started it today, I like the idea of pictured instructions, makes it handy however it tells you what parts you need but the mdf pieces are not lettered. This made it difficult to tell what parts needed putting together first.
Just drying now and it looks good, aside from the initial period trying to work it out, I'm looking forward to applying the wrap. Seems a good quality set for sure and would absolutely buy others but the pieces which should be lettered just wasn't.
Hi Kian, thank you for your review. There should be a “kit map” on the last page of the instructions that helps you identify the MDF and laserboard parts. It’s basically diagrams of the parts sheets with numbers & letters on it 👍

A nice kit but limited space for interior detailing. It still has presence on a layout.
I have not yet got around to building the ''Percival Cottage'' Kit. It is one of my to do project these dark evenings. However, if it is as good as the other kits I will be very pleased.
I love the choices these kits give you. It's not always obvious but many of the SMS buildings can come in 2 different finishes. I prefer the white weathered look as similar to where I grew up but the red brick is another option
Excellent detail and a easy to build though small detail such as windows etc requires some dexterty
I have bought many items recently from SMS and at all times the staff are professional and courteous. The level of all of there products are world class and realistic.

I like the fact that you can choose different characters for the building. The spare sheets are useful to practise gluing the paper on the wood. I'm pleased with the result - love the roof tiles, drainpipes and the porch details.

A choice of finish but cutting out the windows needs great care. A very sharp craft knife is essential. Definitely recommend.
I found fitting the doors and windows into the apertures awkward.
It must be said I am not the greatest modeller so finding building Percival cottage a bit of a challenge but not doing too bad so far. Main carcass went together well, as did the doors after initially not understanding the order they went together but a quick email to your team sorted that out, thank you. The main problem I have had is fetching the windows and frames off the sheets without damaging them. Looking good so far, will be a bit of a pause as going on holiday, look forward to completing on return. When new Buildings or other scenic materials are needed in the future scale model scenery will be the first I will look to. Many thanks.

Another great kit, easy to build. I modified the kit by changing the roof to Slate and by adding lettering to the front, turning it into a Pub. I am not a fan of roll up chimneys, I find them very hard to roll and now use painted plastic tube, eg, from cotton buds.

Easy to assemble and accurate instructions with this kit.
One issue - the roof tiles sheet as provided is too short - there's no overlap to cover barge boards. In release 2 just make the tile strip 5-10mm wider please !
Unfortunately, I cannot say much about this product, having only just received it. However, it was delivered promptly and came in neat packaging, which, apart from the plastic wrapper, appears to be environmentally friendly. Inside the house components seems to be clearly defined. As this is the first time I'm attempting to build a laser etched/cut product, I naturally have some trepidation, so for the moment, cannot say any more.
