Despite the small size of baseboard, this plan includes quite a complex design, with three scenes on two levels. This allows a second, or even third, person operate their own section. The three scenes can be treated as one era, or different eras, depending on the rolling stock and trackside fittings selected.

The plan includes an urban station, cleverly partly hidden to suggest a larger platform, a small motive power depot which includes a turntable, and a separate goods yard on the upper level.

Buildings Suggestions

The Station:

This scene shows the end of a platform, set in an urban-style cutting. KX076-OO Low relief Brick Railway Arches would be a suitable choice to provide the cutting walls, and our LX414-OO Curved Platform kit can be used to create the exact shaped platform needed.
Using semaphore signals, this scene can be set in the steam era, whereas colour light signals would indicate a more modern setting.

The Motive Power depot:

This scene is probably better set sometime during the extensive steam era, although a dummy turntable could be used with a long-since neglected engine shed for a static scene.

The Goods Yard:

The upper level can be surrounded by high warehouses and factories, or smaller buildings for a more semi-urban or less industrial environment.
