A versatile KX054-OO Tony's Cart Shed & Store - OO/4mm/1:76 suitable for farm, coastal, railway or industrial use. The design is typical of many buildings of this type that can still be seen all over the British Isles and is supplied with a choice of white painted red brick & whitewashed stone walls. Both finishes feature plenty of weathering for a worn & well-used finish. The roof uses our ever-popular TX104 rusty black painted corrugated iron paper wraps along with fully detailed interior walls for a superior standard of finish.
The building consists of two components: workshop/cart shed with double sliding doors, a small 9-pane window & side door (that can be posed open or closed). The store building is separate from the main building, enabling you to position it wherever you like.
The kit is supplied with laser-cut parts for ease of assembly, with no additional painting or weathering required for a "Realistically Better" finish straight from the pack. The windows, doors & laserboard downspouts & bargeboards can be painted & weathered with acrylic paints. We used a Plastikote matt black for our test build, which we then dry-brushed with burnt umber, white & slate grey artists' acrylics to create a weathered wood look.

Great kit that’s simple to build with many possible uses. Mine will be ‘Bob’s Boat Repairs’ and sit on the quayside in a weather worn state as business is not what it was!!
The trail round the sliding doors is impressive and not to tricky to build. Great addition to the layout
Wonderful kit, easy to follow instructions and went together well. Always a great products and excellent service from Scale Model Scenery, I can't recommend them high enough.
Only my second laser kit and I thoroughly enjoyed the build. All parts are precisely cut and easy to remove from the MDF sheet with a sharp craft knife. The main shell fits snugly together and it's not long before you're adding your choice of texture wrap. Once the doors etc. are painted with your choice of acrylic and weathered, I sealed it all in with a coat of matt varnish. I'll definitely be getting more kits even as a scratch builder. Thoroughly recommended.
Pluses: Solid construction from laser cut wood. Feels sturdy after building. The printed elements are wonderfully realistic and it is nice to have choices over which surfaces to use. The drain pipes, for instance, are testement to the detail and creativity from the design team at SMS. The printed layer behind the drain pipes are even weathered to add to the five-star realism. An engaging model that is cathartic to build and wonderful to have. The only improvement: Perhaps a review of the instructions and guide to the parts. Despite reading a section four times, I failed to realise that the guttering needed to be placed before the roof struts. I bought this from Kerry at Invicta Model Rail. She was also impressed with the detail of these. She also gave me the brochure 'Realistically Better' and this is an accurate and apt title! Thanks you Kerry and thank you the team at SMS
Have purchased many items from Scale model scenery over the years and have always been very pleased with the finished product. The" Tonys cart shed" kit has been the first kit I have purchased as a MDF / wrap kit, as I wanted a more realistic weathered looking building. I have used card kits before, but they look to prestine and nothing like the "real world" look of buildings. Since building the Cart shed kit I have order several more farm related buildings as the finished product looks very realistic. The only modification I have carried out to the kit is adding Humbrol matt varnish spray to the roof, as the kit supplied item is far to shiny to look realistic.
Quite detailed, but corrugated roofing needs to be corrrugated!
This kit is a dream to assemble and looks absolutely stunning upon completion. Assembly is straight forward, and I would say ideal for new comers to the hobby. Another winner from Justin, Tina and the crew.
Another great little kit from these guys. Really easy build and great instructions. There's even an upper floor in this kit and interior wall and floor coverings too
