A versatile laser cut bonded warehouse building kit for OO gauge model railway layouts and 1:76 scale diecast dioramas. Packed with realism including detailed interior walls, floors & ceilings, finely detailed, glazed windows, wall mounted hoists, pre-weathered exterior brick textures and optional ghost signs. Modelled on a real-life warehouse on Limehouse Wharf in London, it offers you complete versatility as a modeller. Use it in its original form as a warehouse, or customise the interior and use it on a modern layout as executive apartments.

The fully detailed interior features wooden panelling & paintwork to the office walls, white painted interior warehouse walls with weathering, exposed brick patches and general discolouration. The exterior features realistically weathered red brick walls with blue brick banding and arches above the windows. Optional ghost signs, lightly weathered laser cut roof slates and finely detailed wall mounted hoists add that extra finishing touch to make this building the centrepiece of any dockside or industrial scene and are all included with the kit.

The kit is supplied with laser-cut parts for ease of assembly and the fully weathered paper wraps and roof slates mean no additional painting or weathering is required for a "Realistically Better" finish to the walls and main building straight from the pack. The windows & doors are supplied laser-cut from our eco-friendly laserboard and are packed with detail.

Doors & window frames do require painting before the kit is assembled which can be done with solvent or acrylic based paints and the front and rear of the building have unique door & window configurations as can be seen in the photos (larger door centre of the front wall... identical width doors in the centre of all floors to the rear). We used a simple matt black car spray for our test build which give it them a lovely weathered, industrial feel. For a more modern feel, use a gloss black or grey to represent a renovated building being used as apartments.

There's also plenty of scope for customisation too... and the fully detailed interior walls make detailing and customising the interior a breeze. Add stacks of sacks, shipping crates, sack trucks and other details to create a super-realistic warehouse scene. Office desks & filing cabinets can also be added to the corner office too.

You can also choose from plain weathered red & blue brick or add the optional ghost signs (included in the kit) for a unique finish for your layout. The finely detailed laser cut hoists can also be assembled so that they can be moved & posed once assembled, giving scope for animation if so desired.

Step-by-step instructions are included giving great results for modellers of all ages and abilities. Fully compatible with all model railway brands & buildings.

This model was a first for me as I normally scratch build. Whilst at a loose end recently I saw an SMS advert and although a little sceptical I decided to buy this and try a laser cut kit. I have to say that I am impressed and extremely pleased with the outcome. I resisted temptation and decided to trust the instructions to the letter rather than just steam in. It went together perfectly. Precision fit of all parts and once wrapped it was a pleasure to behold. My only very slight concern was the method of assembling the windows as a sandwich of two window frames with cellophane packaging as the glazing. Glueing mdf to a plastic seemed a little doubtful to me but I did so and whilst fiddly it was pretty successful. So all in all I'm impressed and would thoroughly recommend these SMS kits especially as a step up creation for new modellers. A very attractive finished building.

Fantastic kit

Really enjoyed the flexibility of the kit as inspired by the Model Rail article. Added Smiths brick sheets and Kytes lights plus myriad of bits from the spares box. Great fun.

Well designed with plenty of scope to customise.

As expected from SMC, this is a well designed kit that fits together well. It provides plenty of scope for customising and I have already had some ideas on how I plan to modify a second purchase of this kit.

Assembly issue

Apertures in walls for warehouse windows seem to have been cut without allowing for thickness of paper wrap on all four edges, making fragile laser cut windows, which look good, a very tight fit !

A good model and am enjoyable kit.

The final result is exactly the dingy warehouse that I wanted in this location on my layout. Very typical. The build was really enjoyable , being neither too easy or too difficult. Even the fidly bits worked. I added lights to my building which was also not difficult. End result is fine but next one will be better. (as usual) Overall, an excellent kit but a 4 story option would be better.

Worth taking the time

Good model that fits together well. The roof tiling needs improvement as it lets light through from the internal lighting I fitted to the top floor.

Robertson's Bonded Warehouse

Excellent model, although some parts a bit small and hard to manipulate for anyone with arthritis, perseverance has produced a really nice addition to the layout. The detail is extremely good and the finished model reminds me very much of the old No.7 Bonded Warehouse that once stood on Castle Street in Hull.

Cracking little kit, great detailing, very robust kit using MDF,makes it more robust than a card kit, little bit fiddly to build, but that,s all part of the fun, strongly recommend this kit to everyone.

Fun build

Bought this kit to make up as a centerpiece for the shunting layout that I'm currently building for this year's club show [32a MRC based at Catfield, Norfolk] It proved to be challenging, but quite straightforward, and in the end quite quick to construct. It does indeed make a handsome structure and if you follow Justin's instruction sheet you'll not get stuck...that's right I didn't 'cos I was out of paint for the window frames! However, once I worked out my building order mistake and got back on track all was well, thanks to an excellent set of instructions. I can hardly wait for another building to do...how about an LMS large goods building. They just keep getting better Justin...as they say 'round here 'do u keep a troshing bor!'

Fantastic

The construction is fiddly but the end result is outstanding. The biggest thing is that it can put adjacent existing buildings may look poor.
